Case-Study : LAND DRAINAGE & PUMP CONTROL
England is split into approximately 120 Drainage Boards, each of which is tasked with ensuring that the land within its catchment area is properly drained at all times. This is done through a system of drainage ditches and pumping stations. One of the largest drainage boards - North Level IDB which covers an area between Peterborough and Wisbech - turned to Alphr Telemetry to implement a full closed-loop control system.
Each pumping station is fitted with a Landmark transceiver unit within the control panel. This initially monitors the water level and sends it back to a PC at the control office.
Based on parameters entered by the drainage engineers, the PC software will automatically start and stop the pumps at the pumping stations to keep the water level within acceptable limits.

Together with the 10 pumping stations in the area, the system also monitors and logs data coming in from around 50 other monitoring points and 4 rainfall gauges giving the drainage engineers a total picture of the sitation anywhere in the catchment area.
