Case-Study : OBSERVATORY CONTROL
The European Southern Observatory is a combined operation funded by several major EU countries. They have set up various Observatory sites worldwide, one of which is located in the north of Chile and is fitted with an MQ radio system for monitoring and control.
The telescope has a dome that rotates freely on top of the building and it is powered via a slip ring. An Alphr Telemetry MQ Telemetry system controls the opening /closing of the hatches, windscreen, lights and various interlocks.
They also gather digital and analogue information of hatches and crane status, wind speed, temperature and humidity. All the MQ modules of the fixed side are connected to a VME unit, where the information as well as the control commands are processed.

The engineer in charge of the project told us: "The Alphr Telemetry MQ radio telemetry control system is working fine. We collected all the necessary information from your web page and it took us just a few days to assemble an operational system".
